Winter 2019 Preview of Films Based on Books

As I have been pursing this journey of watching films that have been nominated for Oscars, is occurred to me that many of the films I check out are based on books, books that I haven't yet read.

I don't know about you, but I ALWAYS prefer to read the book before seeing the film, if that is an option. I remember hearing about Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy and racing as fast as I could through the entire 1000+ page trilogy before the first film was released in 2001. Fortunately I had already read The Hobbit some years before, but needed some inspiration to tackle the larger work.

But on to today's discussion. I was recently looking at a list of films that are coming out in 2019 and started wondering which books I should read before these hit the big screen. Here is what I've come up with so far as your guide to reading the book before watching the movie. We'll start with films set for release in the first quarter of the year, January through March.
