The Academy Museum Podcast Review

Don’t get me wrong, there can never be enough shows about movies, and bringing the folks at the newly opened Academy Museum is a great entry into the movie podcasting space.

From the beginning, the Oscars have been a place where we see people at their highest, often deciding to make political or cultural statements in their acceptance speeches. Adding to the already rich history of stories told in the Academy Museum, this podcast serves as a place to tell the stories behind some of the biggest moments in the Oscar Ceremony.

The first season of the show will feature 10 episodes, each focusing a spotlight on a specific ceremony from the past. The first episode was a wonderful look at 20 years ago this year when Sidney Poitier received an honorary Oscar for his work in film, Denzel Washington took home the Best Actor award for Training Day, and Halle Berry gave an emotional acceptance speech after winning Best Actress for Monster’s Ball.

Episodes are short enough to listen on a lunch break but carry enough background and detail through interviews and story research, that you’ll be sure to learn something new.
