THE OSCAR PROJECT
The Oscar Project
A quest to watch every Oscar nominated film
I'm jumping back into the standard weekly Nominee Watch posts with a quick mid-week preview this week. I'm not entirely sure why the new Annabelle film is releasing on Wednesday this week, but here is it with a few extras arriving in limited release down below.
Annabelle Comes Home
Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her "safely" behind sacred glass and enlisting the help of a priest's holy blessing. Believing they are safe, Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room who all set their sights on the Warren's ten-year-old daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace) and her babysitters.
In this third Annabelle film (following 2014's Annabelle and 2017's Annabelle: Creation) it arrives as the latest addition to the Conjuring Universe. The films in these related series have received a wide variety of response from critics but have generally performed well at the box office, with the exception of the latest entry, The Curse of La Llorana.
I'm just a film buff who wants to watch great movies. Where else to find the best, than the list of those nominated by the Academy each year?
