The Oscar Project
We get our weekly releases a few days early this week with the July 4th holiday landing on a Thursday. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that there will be much in the way of big films hitting theaters as we already had the biggest release of the week on Tuesday. Horror if the name of the game in the only wide release tomorrow so if that's your game, check it out. There are also several films that have been out for a few weeks that are good family fun including Toy Story 4, Aladdin, and The Secret Life of Pets 2. Midsommar In the tradition of last year's film Hereditary, and at the height of summer, we get another subtle horror film called Midsommar. The story here seems simple enough, a group of young men fly off to Sweden to attend a summer festival together. One of them brings his girlfriend who has just experienced a traumatic event in her life, hoping to get her mind off things. Upon arriving at the festival, the friends find that there are ancient rituals and ceremonies taking place and they are in danger from the locals. Of course they are not allowed to leave and things turn from bad to worse.
