THE OSCAR PROJECT
The Oscar Project
A quest to watch every Oscar nominated film
In a rare mid-week release, we have one film opening in wide release tomorrow before a much bigger opening this weekend.
Additionally, there are two films opening in limited release tomorrow as well. Please check out the trailers and my brief summaries below and look for a full update for the Friday releases posting on Thursday.
It will be interesting to see this film compared with the original. Most people have opinions about the status of African Americans in this country, and this film is clearly a statement on that, including the one line in the trailer that says "we black men, there ain't no where safe." Color imagery is rampant in this film, even just looking at the trailer and I am interested to see where the filmmakers take these ideas.
Ultimately, this doesn't seem like the traditional fair that makes a splash at the Oscars, and likely will not earn any nominations next year.
Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf – Documentary focusing on gardener Piet Oudolf, who is described as "gardening like an artist paints."
The Third Murder – Japanese legal drama about a man on trial for a murder he confessed to, but doubts creep into the mind of the defendant's lawyer.
I'm just a film buff who wants to watch great movies. Where else to find the best, than the list of those nominated by the Academy each year?
